Rouhani to Erdogan: We Should Bring Peace, Stability to Region, End Violence
Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has stressed the need for collective cooperation in order to bring about peace and stability in the region.
“We should all make efforts to establish peace, stability and tranquility in the region,” said Rouhani in a phone conversation with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who had called the Iranian president to congratulate him on his victory in Iran’s June 14 presidential election.
The Iranian president emphasized the necessity to end the violence and bloodshed in the region and said cooperation between the Islamic Republic and Turkey is effective in realizing this objective.
Sheikh Rouhani added that Iran’s new administration intends to increase Iran’s cooperation with Turkey.
Erdogan, for his part, called for the further expansion of the relations between Iran and Turkey in all fields.
President Rohani took the oath of office in Iran’s Majlis on August 4, one day after being endorsed by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
