(FNA) – IMF chief Christine Lagarde arrived in court on Thursday for questioning by a French magistrate over her role in a €285 million arbitration payment made to a supporter of former President Nicolas Sarkozy.
She risks being placed under investigation at the hearing for her 2007 decision as finance minister to use arbitration to settle a court battle between the state and businessman Bernard Tapie, Reuters said.
Lagarde is not accused of financially profiting personally from the payout, and has denied any wrongdoing.
