Iran Supports “Full Truce” in Syria during Month of Ramadan
Iran said on Tuesday it supported a “full truce” by the armed groups in Syria during the month of Ramadan, and this came after the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” demanded a ceasefire during this month in Homs.
In this context, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Arakji, said that “we advice (opposition gunmen) to implement a full truce, put their arms aside, and initiate in negotiations with the Syrian government”.
“There is no military solution, and the only way out is by a national dialogue between the government and the real opposition”, he added, hoping to differentiate between “the real opposition and terrorist groups”.
President of the so-called “Syrian National Coalition” called upon the International Community last week to pressure the Syrian regime and its allies to agree on a truce in Homs during the month of Ramadan.
This came as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has also called on the both sides of the conflict in Syria to implement a truce during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
