Iran refuses to recognize Israeli regime at Istanbul
Mehr News – FM spokesperson said Iran refused to abide by those articles in final statement of OIC summit in Istanbul which recognized the Zionist regime.
Bahram Ghasemi, Spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks in response to reporters’ questions on documents approved the Wednesday extraordinary summit of Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey which discussed the repercussions of the recognition by the United States of Al-Quds as a capital of Israeli regime.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran, while supporting inalienable rights of Palestinian people, announced that supporting the resolution endorsed at the meeting of Islamic countries’ foreign ministers and the final declaration of OIC extraordinary summit of in Istanbul on the issue of al-Quds does not in any way constitute recognition of the usurper Zionist regime by Tehran,” he underlined.
Ghasemi added that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s declaration on non-recognition of the Zionist regime was also announced at the Istanbul summit and was officially submitted to the secretariat of the summit.
The extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ended on Wednesday with issuance of a final statement, and the participating countries highlighted recognition of the Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The meeting was held in response to US action to recognize Jerusalem as capital of the Zionist regime and was attended by heads and representatives of 57 Islamic countries.
Islamic countries warned that if the United Nations Security Council fails to act in connection with the American decision, they would refer the matter to the General Assembly of the international body.
