Iran imposes sanctions against individuals and EU institutions
Declaration by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the imposition of sanctions against certain individuals and institutions in the European Union.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with the approvals of the competent authorities and within the framework of the relevant regulations and sanction mechanisms and as a reciprocal action, the following institutions and persons in the European Union by reason of their deliberate actions in support of terrorism and terrorist groups, the promotion and incitement of terrorism and violence and the spread of hatred that has caused riots, violence, terrorist acts and human rights violations against the Iranian nation, are sanctioned:
The following entities are subject to sanctions:
The so-called “Friends of Free Iran” group and its members in the European Parliament;
The International Committee for Justice (ISJ) and members;
Stop the Bomba organization;
German network Deutsche Welle Persian (Deutsche Welle Persian);
RFI Persian network of France (RFI Persian);
French international league against racism and anti-Semitism (LICRA);
The German Karl Kolb Co., supplier of chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein’s regime;
Rhein Bayern Fahrzeugbau Co., Germany, supplier of chemical gases to Saddam Hussein’s regime.
The following subjects are subject to sanctions:
Aljo Vidal Quadras, President of the International Committee for the Research of Justice;
Javier Zarazlejos, co-chair of the so-called Friends of Free Iran group in the European Parliament;
Milan Azver, co-president of the so-called Friends of Azad Iran group in the European Parliament;
Charlier Weimers, member of the European Parliament;
Jan Zahradil, Member of the European Parliament;
Helmot Geuking, representative of the European Parliament;
Hermann Tertsch, representative of the European Parliament;
Meyer Habib, representative of the French National Assembly;
Martine Valleton, mayor of Villepinte, France;
Jean Francois Legaret (Jean Francois Legaret), former mayor of the first district of Paris;
Johanned Boie, editor-in-chief of the German newspaper Bild;
Alexandra Wurzbach, editor-in-chief of the German newspaper Bild;
Among the sanctions cited are the prohibition of issuing visas and the impossibility of allowing the aforementioned persons to enter the Islamic Republic of Iran and the seizure of their assets in the territory under the jurisdiction of the Islamic Republic of Iran. All the institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to the approval of the competent authorities, will take the necessary measures to implement these sanctions.
Recalling the commitments of the European Union and the respective governments of the aforementioned persons and institutions, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the support, facilitation and failure to confront the actions of these persons and institutions as a violation of the international obligations of the Union and member states and holds them accountable. Obviously, this sanctioning measure will not nullify the prosecution of individuals due to their involvement in prosecutions in the competent courts.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, once again, strongly rejects and condemns the action of the Council of the European Union of 17 October 2022 in the application of illegal restrictive measures against Iranian individuals and institutions, on the basis of unfounded accusations which are a clear example of meddling in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
