Iran appeals for immediate dispatch of emergency supplies to Yemen
Following deterioration of humanitarian situation in Yemen, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on Monday appealed to the international community for immediate dispatch of emergency supplies to Yemen. ‘Siege of Yemen runs counter to International humanitarian law, on one hand, and the Saudi government created obstacle for shipment of the emergency supplies and drinking water, on the other, have deteriorated the humanitarian situation in light of severe shortage of most dire medical supplies in Yemen,’ said Afkham, expressing deep concern over the creation of a human catastrophe.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated that Iran is preparing a report on its numerous attempts to assist the highly oppressed Yemeni citizens and the Saudi sabotage to block the path for their entry that will be presented to various international organizations. ‘Simultaneously, the Islamic Republic will continue efforts aimed at forwarding emergency supplies to Yemen in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross,’ she added. Meanwhile, Afkham condemned the usage of forbidden weapons by the Arab coalition against the Yemeni citizens that is confirmed by international organizations.
