Imam Khameni: No Deal if Anti-Iran Bans Hold
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei confirmed that Iran held nuclear talks with the P5+1 countries for the removal of sanctions against Tehran, and that there would be no deal between the two sides if the bans remain in place.
In a meeting with officials of Iran’s Assembly of Experts on Thursday, Imam Khamenei said the Islamic Republic entered the negotiations with the six world powers to secure the lifting of all sanctions against the country.
“The parliament should not be sidelined on the nuclear deal issue… I am not saying lawmakers should approve the deal or reject it. It is up to them to decide,” Imam Khamenei said.
He further stated: “Sanctions imposed on Iran should be lifted and not only suspended… If not, then we will only suspend our nuclear activities… Our officials only discuss the nuclear deal with America… We will never support America’s policies on Syria and Iraq.”
Imam Khamenei slammed the statements by some US officials on maintaining the restrictive measures against Iran, saying there would be no point in Tehran’s nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 states – the US, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany – should the sanctions against the country remain in place.
