Nasrallah: Resistance Arms Basis of Lebanon’s Security, Islamic-Christian Co-existence A Must

Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered on Monday a speech in which he addressed an electoral rally held to Kiserwan-Jbeil district.

At the beginning of his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah condemned the terrorist takfiri massacres that hit Afghanistan. He further expressed Hezbollah’s sorrow at the loss of the Afghani victims. “What is happening reveals the dangers of the Takfiri terrorist Daesh ideology and what would have the scene be in Lebanon,” he cautioned, noting that “we wouldn’t have been able to hold elections.”

In parallel, His Eminence condemned the massacres committed by the Saudi aggression against the Yemenis as well as the Zionist crime of assassinating the Palestinian scholar and academic al-Batsh. Moving to the internal front, Sayyed Nasrallah viewed that Jbeil-Kierwan district resembles a door to talk about the Islamic-Christian coexistence in Lebanon. “We want a real partnership between Muslims and Christians,” he stated, noting that Hezbollah wants Christians to have a strong presence in the state institutions.

In this context, His Eminence urged all sides to be always governed by the principle of partnership and cooperation, underscoring that the concept of a leading sect or party has ended in Lebanon. “The Shiite community in Lebanon does not seek to be the leading sect,” he assured.

On this level, Sayyed Nasrallah elaborated: “After we entered the political process, made friendships and established alliances, the first challenge was to return to partnership through the gate of electoral law.” “We were demanding an electoral law based on relative representation, given that Lebanon is one district because it offers the best representation. However, the current law has been reached,” he stated.

On what is rumored about the demographic change, Hezbollah Secretary General refused any talk that the Shiites in Lebanon, particularly in Jbeil and Kiserwan, are seeking a demographic change. “This allegations are ridiculous and incendiary,” he commented, recalling that after the Zionist withdrawal from the South, no one from the Resistance men has entered Jezzine raising a Hezbollah or an Amal movement flag.

He further said: “There has been no attempt for a demographic change because we do not think about it. However, there is a great population density and we encourage people to return to their villages. We encourage the residents of Beirut and the suburbs to return to their villages and this has nothing to do with demographic change.” “Some political forces subsist on sectarian strife instead of bringing people together,” he warned.

Commenting on those who are terrifying the Lebanese in general and Jbeil-Kiserwan residents in particular from the Resistance weapons, Sayyed Nasrallah mentioned that “the weapons that they are scaring people of were responsible for liberating the country and protecting the country’s security alongside the army.”

“There are continuous attempts to scare people of the Resistance’s weapons, but so far experience has proved that the Resistance’s arms alongside the army and the people are the basis of security and stability in Lebanon amid the regional blaze,” the Resistance Leader went on to say. According to His Eminence, “These weapons have created a balance of deterrence with the enemy and protected the country in the confrontation against takfiri terrorism on the northern and eastern borders.”

“I stress to all Lebanese, especially Christians, that the Resistance is a main factor in Lebanon’s security,” he emphasized, pointing out that “any weapon carried by a Christian in the villages of the northern Bekaa, whatever its source, is a weapon of resistance because it was carried to protect the country. Resistance is a source of strength and protection for Lebanon. It’s not acceptable to say that it’s a source of threat.”

On another level, Sayyed Nasrallah commented on the symbolic move of offering him the key of Jbeil and Kiserwan by the head of the Municipalities’ Union Juan Hobeich. “This was a symbolic move that expresses mutual respect, but people turned it into an elections story,” he said.

Meanwhile, His Eminence addressed the people of Jbeil and Kiserwan by saying: “The key of Kiserwan and Jbeil remains with President Michel Aoun, and in Bkirki with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi.”

“Sheikh Hussein Zaiter is the only candidate for Hezbollah and the Amal Movement in the Kiserwan -Jbeil district,” he announced, noting that :here has been a very negative atmosphere in the nomination in Jbeil and Kiserwan, knowing that there are people who vote in the region and this is their right.”
