Maj. Gen. Bagheri met with Bashar al-Assad
Mehr News – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Maj. Gen. Bagheri met and held talks with Syrian’s President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, on Thursday.
Major General Mohammad Bagheri was the head of the delegation who had traveled to Syria, Tuesday, to hold talks with the country’s senior officials. During his meeting with Syrian President, Bagheri congratulated the recent victories of Syrian Armed Forces and expressed optimism that terrorism is being rooted out from the entire country.
He emphasized that Iran will continue to support the people and government of Syria. Bashar al-Assad, for his part, showed gratitude for all-inclusive supports of Iran’s Leader and government in the fight against terrorism. The Syrian President requested Major General Bagheri to send his warm regards to the Leader of Islamic Revolution and to the government. During his stay, Bagheri also met with Syria’s Minister of Defense and his counterpart to discuss bilateral relations, the conditions of the region and fight against terrorism.
The Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri who is visiting Syrian capital city of Damascus met with Syrian Defense Minister General Fahd Jassem al-Freij on Wednesday. The two senior officials discussed the avenues of broadening security and defense cooperation after exchanging views on strategic issues of the region.
Both sides underlined that terrorism and extremism should be countered vehemently specifying more development in military, defense, and security cooperation between Iran and Syria.
