Bomb Explodes outside BLOM Bank in Beirut’s Verdun

Beirut – A bomb exploded last night outside of a BLOM Bank branch in the Verdun neighborhood of Beirut, injuring two people. The powerful explosion was heard throughout the western part of the capital.
Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq announced that the explosion caused no casualties. But he said that the Lebanese Red Cross after two people were injured, one of them lightly.
Mashnouq said the bomb was inside a suitcase that was put out by the bank, noting that the explosion does not seem to be related to the previous wave of attacks in the country or to any Intel recently that security agencies have received about possible terrorist attacks.
“The explosive device was placed in a container of flowers outside the BLOM Bank and is estimated to weigh about 15 pounds,” she said the head of the Internal Security Forces Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Basbous after inspecting the scene.
