Ayatollah Sediqi urges peaceful co-existence of followers of religions
(AhlulBayt News Agency) – Substitute Friday prayers leader of Tehran Ayatollah Sediqi has called for peaceful co-existence of followers of different religions and their full freedom to perform their religious duties.
Ayatollah Sediqi made the remarks in a meeting with Georgian Orthodox Patriarch Ilia II on Tuesday, as Iran’s Ambassador to Georgia Javad Qavam Shahidi was also present there.
While underlining relations among religions, Ayatollah Sediqi said many tyrannical steps have been taken in today’s world, which have caused clashes and conflicts, so more attention needs to be paid to such trends.
The two sides also surveyed condition of religious minorities in Georgia.
The Georgian archbishop recalled his meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei and underlined importance of historical and cultural relations between Iran and Georgia.
