Imam Khamenei: Iran doesn’t seek to own nuclear weapons to religious beliefs

di Redazione

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei reassured Saturday that what prevents Iran from seeking a nuclear weapon is not the fear from America, but the religious and Islamic belief which prohibits producing, using, or threatening by these weapons, and rather calls for removing them.

His eminence further stressed that if his country had the intention to produce this kind of weapon, no country in the world, including the United States, would have the power to prevent it.

“If we didn’t have a faith in that, and decided to own nuclear weapons, no country would have been able to stand in our way”, Imam Khamenei said before a crowd of people visiting him from Tabriz.

He considered that the contradiction in the US statements and acts is an indication to its irrationality, indicating that US President Barack Obama’s speech on preventing Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon is a forgery.

The supreme leader added that Washington’s purpose from negotiating isn’t listening to Iran’s logic which demands lifting the ban imposed on it and halting interference in its affairs, but rather convincing Iran not to possess a peaceful nuclear technology and enrich uranium.

Here, Imam Khamenei referred to the US double standards, saying: “The contradiction between the US Administration’s statements and acts is an indication to Washington’s irrationality,” and clarified that: “The US Administration expects that people will submit to its arrogance and irrational speech , but the powerful Iranian people, which has the logic, will not surrender to this arrogance”.

Moreover, his eminence pointed out that “the enemy is in an intense position in front of the Iranian people, unlike what it is pretending”, asserting that “this stance has urged the US leaders to intensify their irrational attitude”.

On another hand, Imam Khamenei indicated that the US today is bragging about its defense of human rights, while it is in fact the major violator of human rights in different countries.

He recalled some violations in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib prisons, as well as the killing of innocents in Afghanistan and Pakistan, adding: “The American Administration claims that it seeks to spread democracy in the world, but we see it clashing with Iran where the rule is clearly by the people, and strongly supporting some tyrants in the region where no elections have even taken place.
