Lebanon. Army arrests 11, including syrians in Arsal
The Lebanese Army announced Friday that it arrested 11 men, including four Syrian nationals, for possession of arms in the eastern town of Arsal.
“Army units deployed in the Arsal area arrested Thursday and this morning [Friday] 11 individuals, including four syrian nationals, in the barren terrain leading to the Lebanese-Syrian border”, a statement issued by the Lebanese Army said.
It further added that quantities of arms, ammunition and military gear the men had were seized.
“The detainees and the confiscated items were handed over to the relevant authorities”, the statement clarified. In parallel, it mentioned that troops are in pursuit of suspects involved in the Feb.
One attack on the Lebanese Army that left two soldiers dead. It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese Army’s patrol was ambushed by militants in Arsal town. The army has since intensified its security around the town in an effort to arrest the assailants.
